The following are pensions applied for mostly in the year 1919 by Confederate Veterans and/or their widows, in alphabetical order by last name.  As I worked on abstracting the pensions, I found myself adding more and more of the information found in the pension.  This is a rough draft, please forgive the inconsistencies and punctuations.  --- James C. Widow of Jeff S. Adams, who served in Co. A, 1st SC from 1861 until 1865. She was born in 1845, married Jeff in 1875. Jeff died June 17, 1914. She lived in Jefferson for 35 years. Submitted October 20, 1919 Armetta Adams, confirmed by H. W. Funderburk & William W. Jenkins.

2426A. Widow of J. Thomas Amos, who served in 45th NC Infantry until 9th April 1865, discharged from prison. She married 27 October 1872. Now 66 years of age & residing in Cheraw since July 28, 1909. Submitted 22 September 1919, Annie W. Amos, confirmed by J. S. Huntley & J. A. McCreight. Thomas Amos enlisted October 22, 1863, captured at Strasburg October 19, 1864, released from Point Lookout, Maryland, June 3, 1865.

2427A. Wyle A. Atkinson, served in Co. K, 43rd Regiment NC under Capt. Boggin, from June 1863, until 9 April 1865, discharged at Appomattox. Born 7 October 1845, resides in Mt. Croghan. Submitted 24 September 1919. Confirmed by J.T. Redfearn.

2428. H. L. Baggot, served in Co. B, 2nd Regiment of SC Artillery, from 4 October 1861, until discharged in Greensboro, NC, April 1865. Born 20 April 1845, resides in Patrick, wounded slightly in arm, present health is fairly good. Submitted 9 ??? 1919. Confirmed by G. W. Boylston & H. H. Martin, who served with him.

2430. William ? Baskins, served in Co. G, 7th Battalion, under Capt. Clyburn from 1 January 1864 until April 1865. Born April 1846. Submitted September 16, 1919; confirmed by James Sullivan & William Sutton.

2429. John C. Baker, served in Coits Light Artillery, from August 1861 until 9 April 1865, discharged Greensboro, NC. Born 29 November 1841, resides in Cheraw. Submitted 17 September 1919, confirmed J. A. McCreight & J. S. Huntley.

2431. Ellen Bittle, widow of J. W. Bittle, who served in 4th Regiment under Captain, J. C. Craig, until discharged 9 April 1865; married 30 August 1869. J. W. Bittle died 6 April 1911. She is 66 years of age. Lived in Chesterfield County, SC, all her life. Submitted 14 April 1919; confirmed by E. B. Smith & W. J. Tucker.

2432. Thomas L. Blackwell, born 19 January 1838; served in Co B, 26th Regiment Volunteers, under Captain John Evans. Resides near McBee; wounded in leg and sent home; cannot use ??? leg. Submitted 9 December 1919. Confirmed by W. H. Sowell formerly of Co. D, 8th Regiment & R. D. Douglas, Co. A, Reg. ?, SC.

2433. A. E. Boan, born February 7, 1843; served in Co. E, 21st, under Captain Davis, from 17 November 1861, until released from prison in 1864. Submitted 6 October 1919. Confirmed by C. D. Boan formerly of Co. E, 21st Reg. & W. T. Grooms formerly of Co. C, 1st SC.

2434. Charles Boan, born 9 April 1843, served in Coits Company from 1861, until discharged April 1865 at Greensboro, NC. Resides in Patrick. Submitted 4 April 1921. Confirmed by D. W. Gaskins formerly of Co. G, 1st SC & Z. T. Redfearn formerly of Co. B, 26th SC.

2435. C.D. Boan, born 7 June 1844, served in Co. E, 21 Regiment, under Captain Davis, from 2 February 1862, until discharged Salisbury, NC, April 1865. Resides in Patrick. Lost leg in service & shot through the body. Submitted 6 October 1919. Confirmed by A.E. Boan formerly of Co. E, 21 Regiment & W. T. Grooms formerly of Co. C, 1st Regiment Volunteers.

2436. Elizabeth R. Boan, widow of Nich??? Boan served in Co. E, 21st Regiment, under Captain B.T. Davis from 6 January 1862 until transferred to Co. B, 5th Regiment; discharged at Appomattox 10 April 1865. She was born 20 April 1840 and married October 1867; He died 5 January 1889; she is 79 years old and resided in Middendorf her whole life. Submitted December 16, 1919. Confirmed by C. D. Boan formerly of Co. E, 21st & J. J. Boan formerly of Co. E, 21st.

2437. Richard T. Boan, born July 1841, served in Co. E, 21 Regiment Volunteers, under Captain Tom Davis from 6 April 1863 until 3 April 1865 being discharged at ???. Resides in Patrick. Shot in right leg & bullet came out stomach, one rib also broken by a bullet, daily good health considering. Submitted 20 September 1919. Confirmed by Solomon H. Huggins formerly of Co. A, 21st SCV & ???.

2438. William Boan, born February 1842, served in Co. B, 1st SC under Captain William J. Davis from April 13, 1862 until April 28, 1865, paroled in Greensboro, NC. Resides in Jefferson. Health bad, I am not able to walk & can’t do any work. Submitted 1 November 1919. Confirmed by Miles Threatt formerly of Co. F, 26th Regiment and F. M. Welsh formerly of Co. D, 1st Regiment.

2439. Rebecca Boan, widow of William Boan. Husband died January 31, 1920. She married him March 1866. She had been a resident of Chesterfield County, SC, since childhood and is now 88 years of age. Submitted 19 January 1921. Confirmed by F. M. Welsh formerly of Co. D, 1st SC Regiment & L. D. Ogburn formerly of Co. D, 8th SC.

2440. Transfer Blank. From Richland Co., October 19, 1922. William Boan served Company F, 7th Battalion under Captain Seegers. He was born March 1840, resides in McBee.

2441. Catherine J. Brock, widow of James P. Brock, who served in Co. I, 1st Regiment of SC Artillery, under Captain Charles Ouglesby, from 15 April 1861 until 1 March 1865, discharged at Cheraw. Married 2 September 1919, and resides Brocks Mill, lived there since 1 January 1910. Submitted 30 October 1919. Confirmed by W. H. Gest formerly of Co. ?, 1st NC & S. W. Brock, formerly of Co. C, Regiment 5.

2442. G. W. Brock served in Co. C, 1 Regiment Battalion of Reserves under Captain Harrell, from September 1864 until 1865. Born 15 November 1844, resides in Cheraw. "Not able to work". Submitted 13, 1919. Confirmed by George A. Malloy formerly of Co. H, 3rd Regiment & J. S. Huntley formerly of Coits Company.

2443. Sarah L. Brown, widow of Valentine Brown, who served in Co. B, 8th Regiment of Volunteers under Captain W. J. Hough, from 1 June 1861 until 23 December 1864, discharged because of physical disability after the Battle of Drury’s Bluff; at the time member Co. E, 21st under Captain Tom Davis. Sarah born about 1831, married 10 December 1867. Valentine Brown died 30 August 1899; She resides in Patrick and is 88 years old and resides in Chesterfield County, SC all her life. Confirmed by W.B. 2444. T. T. Burch, born 4 July 1844, served in Co. A, 7th Regiment Cavalry under Captain Jim Irby from 1861, until discharged at the end of the War, in Charlotte, NC. Resides in Chesterfield. Submitted 9 September 1919. Confirmed by W. M. Burch formerly of Co. A, 4th Cavalry & Z. T. Redfearn formerly of Co. B, 25th SC.

2445. W. M. Burch, born 23 April 1840, served in Co. A, 4th SC Cavalry, under Capt. J.C. Craig from 1864? until 1865, resides in Mt. Croghan. Confirmed by T. T. Burch formerly of Co. A, 7th Reg. Cavalry & Z. T. Redfearn formerly of Co. B, 26th SC.

2446. Jacob Burr, born January 1837, served in Co. E, 21st Vol., under Capt. Thom Davis, from 186? until 1865; was at home crippled at the surrender (had been shot in foot). Resides in Chesterfield. Submitted 16 September 1919. Confirmed by R. ? Boan and Solomon H. Huggins formerly of Co. A, 21st.

2447. Samuel Burn, served in Co. A, 4th Reg. Vol., under Captain Craig, from Fall 1861 until 1865, resides in Mt. Croghan. Confirmed by T.P. Craig formerly of Co. C, Reg. 8, & Z. T. Redfearn formerly of Co. B, 26th.

2448. W. F. Caulder, born 10 June 1843, served in Co. G, 23 Reg., Capt. Robert Emanuel from 7th July 1861 until 7 June 1862; then went to Alex Sparks Co., discharged April 1865 as member of Co. C, Hampton’s Legion under Capt Lewis Co. Resides in Chesterfield. "I was wounded in July 1864, shot through the face, ball going through neck into shoulder." Confirmed by George A. Mulloy, formerly of Co. H, Reg. 3, SC Cavalry, & J. W. McCreight, formerly of Co. A, ???.

2449. D. A. Campbell, born 5 June 1842, served in Coits Co., from 5 February 1862, until discharged in Greensboro, NC, May 1865. Resides in Ruby. No wounds during War of feeble health. confirmed by J. L. Melton formerly of Co. F, 26th SC & J. D. Hancock, formerly of Co. F, 26th SC.

2450. Hugh Bailey Campbell, born 19 February 1842, served Co. D, 21st SCV, under Capt. W. G. ???, from 8 October 1862 until January 1865, discharged Elwina, NY 11 July 1865. Resides at T.B. Campbell’s. "I am very feeble and not able to earn a living". Confirmed by J. S. Huntley formerly of Coits Co. B & J. A. McCreight, formerly of Haskills Battalion.

2451. Maggie R. Chapman, widow of William G. Chapman, who served in Co. A, of Haskills Artillery under Capt. Goodwin, from 15 March 1862 until discharged 9 April 1865 at Appomattox. Married 11 December 1878. William G. Chapman died 26 September 1903. She is now 64 years of age and resides at Cheraw, living there since 1 December 1874.

2452. Lenora Clanton, widow of Reece Clanton, who served in Co. C, 1st Reg., under Captain Huggins, from 1861 until 1865. She was born 1831, married Reece 14 April 1858. He died 15 Nov. 1911. She resides in McBee, where she has lived all her life. Confirmed by R. D. Douglas formerly of Co. A, Reg. 1 & J. E. Douglas formerly of Co. A, Reg. 1.

2453. E. C. Clark, born 25 October 1846, served in Co. C, Browns Battalion under Capt. J. P. Harrell, from August 1864 until the end of the War, discharged at Wilmington, NC. Resides near Jefferson. Submitted 27 September 1919. Confirmed by F. M. Welsh formerly of Co. D, 1st & L. D. Ogburn formerly of Co. D, 8th SC.

2454. Caleb Coker, born 19 December 1844, served in Co. D, 21st, under Capt. M.G. Tarrh; resides in Cheraw. "I was wounded in neck & foot at Drury’s Bluff. Submitted 9 September 1919. Confirmed by J.A. McCreight formerly of Co. A, Haskills Artillery & J. S. Huntley formerly of Coits Co.

2455. Sarah Coker, widow of Josiah Coker, who served in Co. G, 6th Reg., under Capt. J. L. Coker, from May 1861 until his death 31 December 1861. Married 12 January 1861; now 78 years of age; resides in Middendorf where she has lived all her life. Submitted 31 October 1919. Confirmed by James E. Polson formerly of the 8th & J. C. McIntosh formerly of Co. G, 9th SCV.

2456. Mrs. Mary E. Cason, widow of John C. Cason, who served in Co. C, 6th SC Reg., under Capt. R.E. Evans, from October 1862 until end of War, discharged at Fayetteville, NC, in April 1865. They married 8 June 1865; He died 16 June 1910; Resided in Chesterfield all her life. Submitted 12 April 1919. Confirmed by Elisha McDougald of formerly Co. K, 6th Cavalry & A.W. Gaskins formerly of Co. G, 1 SC Infantry.

2457. Louise Courtney, widow of William Alexander Courtney, who served in Co. B, 8th Reg., under Capt. M.J. Hough from 1861 until April 1865, discharged Sandusky City, Ohio, 5 June 1865. Louise was born 16 August 1846, married William 10 February 1866. He died 29 July 1893. She is now 73 years of age and resides in Jefferson where she has lived since 16 August 1846. 2458. Thomas P. Craig, born 4 August 1839, served in Co. C, 8th Inf., under Capt. Powe, from 1 April 1861, until discharged July 1863. Resides in Chesterfield, "was wounded in the head at Gettysburg, cannot hear, feeble. Submitted 26 March 1919. Confirmed by W. B. Davis formerly of Co. E, 21st & Z. T. Redfearn formerly of Co. B, 26th.

2459. W. D. Craig, born 12 November 1845, served in Co. E, 21st Reg., under Capt. Davis, from 1 September 1863, until discharged at the end of the War, 9 April 1865. Resides in Chesterfield; wounded at Ft. Sumter in 1864, ??? and Drury’s Bluff 16 May 1864. Submitted 6 April 1919. Confirmed by Z. T. Redfearn formerly of Co. B, 26th & James Sullivan formerly of Co. F, 7th .

2460. Mary J. Cross, widow of William Cross, who served in Co. C, 21st Reg., under Capt. B. T. Davis, from January 1862 until end of War, in prison in ???, Ohio. Mary born August 1846, married William prior to 1890. He died 24 June 1915. She is now 73 years of age and resides in Patrick, since birth. Confirmed by C. H. Boan formerly of Co. C, 1st & W. T. Grooms formerly of Co. E, 21st.

2461. Jane Crowley, widow of Andrew J. Crowley, who served in Co. E, 21st, under Capt. B.T. Davis, from 1861 until 1865. She was born 8 March 1843, married 9 ? 1866?; he died 14 January 1914. She is now 76 years of age and has lived in Patrick since 8 March 1843. Confirmed by C. D. Boan formerly of Co. E, 21st & A. E. Boan formerly of Co. E, 21st.

2462. Tinney R. Davis, widow of John J. Davis, who served in Co. E, 21st Reg., under Capt. B. T. Davis from 8 January 1861 until discharged 14 January 1863 at Morris Island due to physical disability (rheumatism). She was born 21 October 1847, married John in 1865. He died February 16, 1891. She is now 72 years of age and has resided in Chesterfield County, SC, all her life. Submitted 25 October 1919. Confirmed by E. B. Smith formerly of Coits Company & W. D. Craig formerly of Co. 2463. W.B. Davis, born 1 February 1847, served in Co. E, 21 Reg. Vol., under Capt. B. T. Davis from 8 April 1863 until 24 June 1864, "when I was captured", released 15 February 1865 and was at home at the surrender. Resides at Chesterfield; wounded at Morris Island. Submitted 24 February 1919. Confirmed by T. P. Craig formerly of Co. C, 8th & W.D. Craig formerly of Co. E, 21st.

2464. Margaret Douglas, widow of Alexander Douglas, who served in Co. C, 3rd Reg., from 1861 until April 1865. She was born 12 October 1837, married 7 March 1861. He died September 1912. Income doesn’t exceed $50. She is now 82 years of age and has resided in Mt. Croghan all her life. Confirmed by Ervin Oliver formerly of Co. E., 1st & H. L. Lisenby formerly of Co. E, 1st Reg.

2465. Duncan Douglas, born 11 January 1848, served in Co. E, 3rd Reg., under Capt. Blakeney from January 1865 and was home on sick leave at surrender. Resides in Chesterfield. Income not in excess of $500, property $3000. "Suffers with high blood pressure." Submitted 17 April 1919. Confirmed by Ervin Oliver formerly of Co. E, Capt. Blakeney’s & H.L. Lisenby formerly of Co. 2466. Mary H. Douglas, widow of Duncan A. Douglas, who served in Co. E, 1st Reg., under Capt. Blakeney; married 6 March 1873. He died 1 October 1920. Income does not exceed $500, property doesn’t exceed $500. She is now 72 years of age, resides in Chesterfield and has lived in her entire life. Submitted 1 March 1921. 2467. Isabella J. Douglas, widow of John A. Douglass, who served in Co. E, under Capt. Blakeney, discharged at the end of the War. Married 7 April 1875. He died 21 September 1916. Income doesn’t exceed $500, property less than $500. She is now 62 and has lived in Chesterfield all her life. Submitted 22 March 1921. Confirmed by Ervin Oliver formerly of Co., E, 1st & A. L. 2468. Margaret E. Durant, widow of James Jinkins Durant, who served in 7th Reg., under Capt. Seegars until the end of War, and released from prison. Married 3 June 1886. He died 23 December 1908. Income less than $500, property less than $500. She is now 70 and has resided in Chesterfield since 1908. Confirmed by Maj. T. E. Lucas formerly of the 8th & T.P. Craig formerly of Co. C, 8th.

2469. Christian Eddins, widow of James Eddings, who served in Co. H, 21st under Capt. M.G. Tarrh, from 23 April 1861 until 22 April 1865. She was born 17 March 1848, married 15 August 1869. He died 13 May 1874. She has no income or property. She is now 63 years of age, and has resided near Cheraw for 35 years. Confirmed by Caleb Coker formerly of Co. D, 21st & J. A. McCreight formerly of Haskills Artillery.

2470. Augustus L. Evans, born 24 February 1847, served in Co. C, 5th Battalion State Troops, under Capt. James P. Harrell, from 1 July 1864 until 18 March 1865, surrendered at Greensboro, NC 26 April 1865, then a member of Co. D, under Capt. Spofford, 8th Reg. SC Volunteers. Income less than $1000, property less than $10.000. Resides in Cheraw. "Present health fair." Submitted 15 April 1919. Confirmed by H.P. Duvall formerly of Co. C, 5th Battalion & J. S. Huntley of Coits Company.

2471. Sarah W. Evans, widow of William Augustus Evans, who served in Coits Company from 1862 to April 1865, married 14 June 1876. He died July 1913. Income is less than $1000 and property less than $5000. She is now 70 years of age and resides in Hornsboro. Submitted 10 July 1919. Confirmed by J. W. Ousley formerly of Co. D, 4th SCV & Z. T. Redfearn formerly of Co. B, 26th SC Regiment.

2472. Transfer Blank. From Richland Co., NC, to Chesterfield County, SC. Artie Wilson Freeman, widow of Jacob Freeman, who served in Co. E, 9th SC. No property or income. Was born 2 April 1855, now resides in Cheraw; married 8 March 1887.

2473. William Freeman, born 8 August 1830, served in Co. E, 21st, under Capt. W. T. Davis, from 1861 until 1865, was at home at surrender. Income less than $3000, property less than $3000, resides in Chesterfield. Suffered leg wound during war. Submitted 10 August 1919. Confirmed by S.P. Purvis formerly of Co. E, 21st & T.P. 2474. Elerbe B.C. Funderburk, born July 1848, served in Co. A, 1st, under Capt. Huggins, from September 1864 until May 1865, discharged in Greensboro, NC. Income less than $1000, property less than $1000. Resides in Pageland. Health "just common". Submitted 21 October 1919. Confirmed by Willis Jenkins formerly of Co. A, 1st SC Infantry & H. W. 2475. Henry W. Funderburk, born 5 March 1847, served in Co. A, 1st SC Infantry from August 1864 until 15 April 1865, under Capt. T. A. Huggins, discharged in Greensboro, NC. 2476. Jerry M. Funderburk, born 15 December 1845, served in Co. A, 7th Cavalry under Capt. Walsh from 8 April 1863 until 9 April 1865, discharged at home; income less than $500, property less than $5000. "Wounded in mouth right side on 20 August 1864". Confirmed by W. H. Funderburk formerly of Co. A, 7th SC & Jas T. Funderburk, Co. C, 5th SC.

2477. Ann Funderburk, widow of John Funderburk, who served in Co. C, 3rd Reg., under Capt. J. P. Harrell, from September 1864 until April 1865, discharged at Wilmington, NC. She was born 10 September 1847, married April 1888, he died 10 March 1905. Income less than $200, property less than 200. She is now 72 years of age and has resided in Wolf Pond area since 1910. 2478. Elizabeth Funderburk, widow of Joshua Funderburk, who served in Co. A, 1st SC, from 1861 until end of War, discharged at Richmond, Virginia, 9 April 1865. She was born 11 July 1838, married March 1889. Her husband died 3 March 1902, her income less than $200, property less than $200, age now 81 years of age, and has lived in Wolf Pond community since 1905. Submitted 27 October 1919. 2479. William H. Funderburk, born 16 September 1834, served in Co. A, 7th Cavalry from 19 March 1862 until April 1865 under Capt. Walsh, discharged while at home on leave. Income less than $500, property less than $3000; "present health is poor, can see very little". Confirmed by J. M. Funderburk formerly Co. A, 7th SC & Jas T. Funderburk formerly of Co. C, 5th SC.

2480. David M. Gaskins, born 15 December 1845, served in Co. G. 1st , under Capt. Valentine from 1863 until April 1865, discharged at Greensboro, NC. Resides in Chesterfield; "Health rather bad". Submitted 27 September 1919. Confirmed by Jacob Burr formerly of Co. E, Reg. 21 & Elisha McDougald formerly of Co. K, 6 Reg.

2481. Harriet E. Godfrey, widow of Samuel Gilespie Godfrey, who served in Co. C, 8th Reg. Vol., under Capt. W. H. Coit, from April 1861 until 1865, discharged at Johnson Island, Ohio, 1 June 1865, then under Capt. T. J. Mulloy. She was born 9 July 1842, married 15 September 1863. Husband died 20 September 1897. Her income less than $9, property less than $1000. Now 77 years of age and has lived in Cheraw since 9 July 1842. Confirmed by George A. Malloy formerly of Co. H, 3 Reg. SC & J. A. 2482. Flora A. Grant, widow of Daniel Baly Grant, who served in Co. D, 26th, under Capt. Wash Davis from 1862 until 9 April 1865, discharged at Richmond, Virigina. She was born 6 October 1851, married 26 November 1868. Husband died 18 April 1900. No income or property. Has lived in Cheraw since 1878. Submitted 14 October 1919. Confirmed by J. A. 2483. Hannah Grant, widow of William Riley Grant, who served in Co. D, 21st, under Capt. Tarrh from 1861 until end of the War, discharged in Virginia. She was born 4 May 18?5, married 10 December 1867; he died 17 August 1900. No income or property. Now 74 years of age and has lived in household of Frank White since 15 December 1917. Submitted 29 October 1919. Confirmed by G. A. Malloy formerly of Co. H, 3rd Reg., & Caleb Coker formerly of Co. D, 21st.

2484. Thomas Grant born in 1842, served in Co. D, 21st under Capt. Tarrh, from 1 November 1861 until 18 June 1864, released from Point Lookout, Maryland, February 1865. No income, personal property less than $25. "Lost leg, my health at this time is very poor". Submitted 24 October 1919. Confirmed by J. S. Huntley formerly of Coits Company & Jas A. 2485. Hanney Griggs, widow of Clement Griggs, who served in Co. B, 26th, under Capt. John Evans. They married August 1896 and he died August 1915. Income less than $500, property less than $500. She is now 50 years of age and has lived in Chesterfield for over 20 years. Confirmed by Z. T. Redfearn formerly of Co. B, 26th & W. D.Craig formerly of Co. E, 21st Reg.

2486. Euginia Griggs, widow of James M. Griggs, who served in Co. G, 21st, under Capt. R. W. Riddis?, from 1861 until surrender at Greensboro, NC. They married September 1868, (his death date not given). Her income less than $500, property less than $500. She is now 76 years of age and has lived in Middendorf all her life.
