Colonel Ellerbe Boggan Crawford CashColonel Ellerbe Boggan Crawford Cash was born July 1, 1823 in North Carolina, the son of Boggan Cash and Elizabeth Ellerbe. He married, November 28, 1848, Eunice Ellerbe (February 25, 1828 - April 19, 1880) daughter of William C. and Elizabeth Ellerbe of South Carolina. They were the parents of three children, William Boggan Cash, Mrs. Ailene Cash Watts,and Mrs. B.C. Trippett . After the War Between the States, Colonel Cash ran against then Governor General Wade Hampton for the Governorship of the state of South Carolina; however, he was most known for his part in the last legal duel in South Carolina, the Cash/Shannon Duel. |
