Roll of Deceased, 7th South Carolina BattalionLieutenant J. E. Horton was enlisted by Lieutenant R. B Waddle at Camden, SC on 14th Nov. 1861 in Co. "A", 7th SC Batn., appointed as Sergeant and served in that capacity until 27th May 1862 when he was elected 2nd Lieutenant of Co. "F", 7th SC Batn. and held this position until his death. He died at Lewis Sowell’s, Kershaw District SC, no 1st day of November 1862 of Typhoid Fever. Corporal S. T. Folsom was enlisted by Lieutenant R. B. Waddle at Camden SC on 14th Nov. 1861 in Co. "A", 7th Batn. and served as a private until 27the May 1862. Appointed Corporal 18th July 1862 in Co. "F" 7th SC Batn. Killed at Pocalaligo, SC on 22nd Oct. 1862, shot through the heart. James Bruce was enlisted by Lt. R. B. Waddle at Camden SC on 14th Nov. 1861 in Co. "A", 7th SC Batn. and served as a private until 27th day of May 1862. Wounded at Pocataligo SC on 22 Oct. 1862 and died 5th day of Dec. 1862 at McPhersonsville Hospital SC. Said James Bruce was a private in Co. "F" 7th SC Batn from 27th May 1862 to time of his death. Wounded in hip joint by minnie Ball. John W. Caston was enlisted by Lt. R. B. Waddle at Camden SC on 14th Nov. 1861 in Co. "A", 7th SC Batn. and served as private in that company until 27th May 1862, when he was transferred to Co. "F", 7th SC Batn. and was a member of this company until his death. He died 10th August 1862 at the residence of his Father, G. Caston in Lancaster District of Typhoid Fever. James Hall was enlisted by Lt. R. B. Waddle at Camden SC on 14th Nov. 1861 in Co. "A", 7th SC Batn. and served as private said company until 27th May 1862 when he was transferred to Co. "F", 7th SC Batn which company he served as private until his death. He was killed at Pocotaligo SC on 22nd Oct. 1862. Shot through the breast and died instantly. J. W. Horton was enlisted by Lt. B. S. Lucas at Tiller Ferry SC one 23rd March 1862 in Co. "A", 7th SC Batn in which company he served as private until 27th May 1862 when he was transferred to Co. "F", 7th SC Batn ad served as private in said company until his death. He died at Battery Marshall SC on 7th Sept. 1863 of Typhoid Dysentery. John McGougan was enlisted by Lt. B. S. Lucas at Tillers Ferry sC on 18th March 1862 in Co. "A", 7th SC Batn and served as private in that company until 27th May 1862 when he was transferred to Co. "F", 7th SC Batn which company he served as private until his death. He was wounded at Pocotaligo SC on 22nd Oct. 1862 and died of wounds on 24the Oct. 1862 at McPhersonsville Hospital. M. W. Newman was enlisted by Capt. L. W. R. Blair at Camp Chestnut Colleton District SC on 17th April 1862 in Co. "A", 7th SC Batn ad served in said company until 27th May 1862 when he was transferred to Co. "F", 7th SC Batn in which company he served as private until his death. He died at the residence of S. P. Murshinson Kershaw District SC on 24th Day of August 1862 of Typhoid Fever. Jos. Hall was enlisted by Capt. L. W. R. Blair at Lynches Creek SC on 26th Nov. 1861 in Co. "A" 7th SC Batn and served as a private in said command until 27th May 1862 when he was transferred to Co. "F", 7th SC Batn in which company he served as a private until his death. He was killed in Battle of Drewry’s Bluff 16th May 1864. Corp. B. J. Turner was enlisted by Lt. R. B. Waddle at Camden SC on 14th Nov. 1861 in Co. "A", 7th SC Batn in which company he served as a private until the 27th May 1862 when he was transferred to Co. "F", 7th SC Batn and served in said Company as a Corporal until his death. He was killed in front of Petersburg, Va., by shell on 16th June 1864. W. T. Cato was enlisted by Lt. McSween at Battery Marshall SC on 13th Sept. 1863 in Co. "F", 7th SC Batn which company he served as a private until his death. He died in Camp near Wilmington, NC on 2nd May 1864 of Brain Fever. R. W. Barnes was enlisted by Lt. R. B. Waddle at Camden SC on 14th Nov. 1861 in Co. "A", 7th SC Batn in which company he served as a private until the 27th May 1862 when he was transferred to Co. "F", 7th SC Batn and served in said company until his death. He was killed n front of Petersburg, Va.. by sharp shooter on 21st June 1864. M. Ingram was enlisted by Captain D. Seagars at Camp Cantey, South Carolina, on 2nd Sept. 1862 in Co. "F", 7th SC Batn where he served as a Private until his death. He died in hospital at Richmond, VA on 6th July 1864 of typhoid fever. Levi Pate was enlisted by Captain John C. Evans at Chesterfield CH on first March 1864 in 23rd SCV from which Rgt. he was transferred to Co. "F" 7th SC Batn. on __ ____ 1864 where he served as a Private until his death. He died at hospital in Richmond, VA 13th July 1864 of typhoid fever. R.E. West was enlisted by Captain L.W.R. Blair at Camp Walsh on the 19th January 1862 in Co. "A" 7th SC Batn and served as a Private in said Company until 27th May 1862 when he was transferred to Co. "F" 7th SC Batn in which Company he served as a Private until his death. He was killed in Battle of Drury’s Bluff 16th May 1864. Shot in the head and died immediately. Lewis Hopkins was enlisted by Lieutenant McSween at Battery Marshall, South Carolina on the 1st January 1864 in Co. "F" 7th SC Batn and served as a Private until his death. He was severely wounded by shell on the 27th June 1864 and died same day of wound. Received wounds in the trenches near Petersburg. J.M. Haggod was enlisted by Lt. H.D. Tiller at Fort Johnson, South Carolina, on the 20th March 1864 and served as a Private in Co "F" 7th SC Batn until his death. He was killed on skirmish 16th June 1864 in front of Petersburg, VA. W.L. Warren was enlisted by Lt. H.D. Tiller at Battery Marshall, South Carolina, on the 11th September 1863 in Co. "F" 7th SC Batn which he served as a Private until his death. He died in hospital at Petersburg, VA on 29th June 1864 of typhoid fever. Dove Raley was enlisted by Lt. H.D. Tiller at Camp Cantey, South Carolina, on the 14th March 1863 in Co. "F" 7th SC Batn where he served as a Private until his death. He died in hospital near Petersburg, VA on the 31st Aug. 1864 of typhoid fever. G.N. Shoumake was enlisted by Lt. B.S. Lucas at Tiller’s Ferry, South Carolina, on 17th March 1862 in Co. "A" 7th SC Batn and served as a Private in said Company until 27th May 1862 when he was transferred to Co. "F" 7th SC Batn where he served as a Private until his death. He died in Chesterfield District, South Carolina on 26th Aug. 1864 of fever. S.F. Phillips was mustered in by R.B. Waddle at Camden, South Carolina, on the 14th Nov. 1861 in Co. "A" 7th SC Batn on the 27th May 1862 he was transferred to Co. "F" 7th SC Batn he served is said Company until the 21st Aug. 1863, killed in the Charge on the Weldon Railroad. He was appointed Sgt. a few days before his death for his braveness and promptness to duty. George Samuel Heiron was mustered in by R.B. Waddle at Camden, South Carolina, on the 14th Nov. 1861 in Co. "A" 7th SC Batn and was transferred to Co. "F" 7th SC Batn on the 27th May 1862. He served as Private in said Company until the 21st Aug. 1863. He lost a leg in the Charge on the Weldon Railroad. He fell into the hands of the enemy and died date unknown. Jesse Hornby was mustered in by Major T.W. Radcliff on the March 1863. He served in Co. "F" 7th SC Batn until the 15th June 1864. He was very sick on the march from Malvern Hill to Petersburg and it supposed that he fell into the hands of the enemy and died as he had not been heard of up to this date, April 1869. J.D. Shaw enlisted 19th May 1864 by Lt. A.W. Raley Co. "F" 7th SC Batn. Killed at Tiller’s Ferry, South Carolina, 4th July 1891. |
